The speed advantage. From automotive concept to proof of value in one meeting

In the automotive industry, good ideas often get stuck long before anyone has the chance to see them in action. Feasibility studies are followed by discovery workshops that are followed by demos and, while the scope is still under exhaustive discussion, the market moves implacably on.

This was the focus of the MakoLab webinar held on 24th September in conjunction with Automotive World on its Mobex platform. Our experts, Przemysław Jawniuk, Head of Connected Car Delivery, and Michał Miązek, Senior Technical Lead & Software Architect, showed the participants how to shorten the path from concept to decision-supporting evidence while keeping quality and security requirements firmly in view. The centrepiece was a live demo built around a real fleet maintenance problem.

Watch the full webinar to see how an automotive idea becomes a working prototype in real time. Exemplified by a fleet maintenance problem, the approach leverages AI-assisted workflows: The speed advantage Webinar.

One focused workshop replaces a lengthy chain of stages

The approach presented in the session incorporates several early-stage activities into one intensely focused value workshop. Business and technology teams join forces to work on the idea and leave with enough evidence to decide whether taking it further is worthwhile. Value here is defined as the business outcome the idea is intended to deliver and not simply proof that the technology works.

The method draws on MakoLab’s automotive experience, encompassing 20-plus years of delivering complex automotive and IT solutions, more than 10 million connected vehicles supported in production worldwide and over 100 global rollouts for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. For rigorous information security, MakoLab is TISAX- and ISO 27001-certified.

The live demo. Recall-aware maintenance for a fleet

Michał Miązek walked participants through the method step by step.

Step 1. Define the idea. The example was a fleet management system with live GPS tracking. The business need was to improve fleet availability. The concept was to use the NHTSA recalls API to identify recalls that may affect vehicles in the fleet and support the prioritisation of service.

Step 2. Translate the idea into project standards. With assistance from AI, the concept was turned into a business requirements document entitled Recall-Aware Maintenance Prioritisation.

Step 3. Build the proof of value (PoV) with the workshop participants. On the basis of that document, a working prototype of the fleet dashboard was built, enabling everyone involved to assess whether the concept was worth pursuing.

What a one-meeting PoV delivers

The webinar highlighted four benefits.

Faster decisions: a clear go/no-go on further validation or development while the opportunity is still fresh, well before lengthy verification slows the project down.

A lower cost to being wrong: the idea is tested against agreed business requirements before a significant development budget or engineering capacity is committed.

Alignment in the room: engineering, business and decision-makers scrutinise the same evidence together.

Evidence, not slideware: the participants leave with a working prototype or validated architecture and not just a promise.

Summary

In a software-driven automotive industry, the speed of validation is becoming an advantage in itself. A working PoV built in a single meeting gives business and technology leaders something concrete to assess before full-scale development starts.

Our thanks go to Automotive World, to everyone who joined us and to the participants who asked questions during the session.
