MakoLab steps out at MICAM Milano

There’s just a week to go until MICAM Milano, the footwear industry’s leading international trade fair, kicks off in Milan’s Fiera Milano Rho district. An event in a class of its own, it brings together the worlds of fashion and business, hosting 45,000 visitors and over 1,500 exhibitors from 30 countries around the world, representing more than 1,700 autumn/winter 2023 collections. MakoLab is heading off to join them, best foot forward. Why? Read on to find out!

MICAM describes itself as “the landmark event for footwear professionals from all over the world”. Within the next few days, designers, manufacturers, distributors and anyone interested in the top-end fashion sector will be descending on Milan.
MakoLab’s representative there will be business developer Magdalena Lewandowska. Her diary is already filling up with meetings and talks where she will be showcasing what we have to offer the fashion industry in terms of e-commerce, creating, building and deploying online stores based on Shopware 6 or migrating to that platform, not to mention our SEO, UX and WA services. Our presence at the event will be an excellent opportunity to network with the sector’s movers, shakers and decision-makers, the people who are interested in blazing a trail with their trendsetting products, development and, of course, sales, both online and off.
They say that MICAM is the trade show that rules footwear across the world! It’s where trends are set, with the highest quality and best practice in the industry on show. It’s held twice a year, focusing on spring/summer or autumn/winter designs, and this will be the ninety-fifth fair. I’ve attended it several times now, so I’ll be basing my presence this time on the knowledge and experience I’ve already acquired there. My purpose for going is to hold talks with company owners about their current solutions and the potential directions they can take to grow their brands. I ought to emphasise that Europeans are moving away from online marketplaces because they want to have full control over their warehouse status. They’re looking to be independent and to have fluidity when it comes to deciding their prices. At the same time, they’d rather allocate the money the channels receive as commission to investment in their own e-commerce infrastructure and growth. So what we have to offer is a perfect fit for their expectations!

MICAM Milano is promoted by Assocalzaturifici, the national association representing industrial shoe manufacturers in Italy. It has a membership of around five hundred companies and its work includes highlighting the excellence of Italian footwear. Notably, the sector as a whole achieves annual sales of more than fourteen billion euro, employing 77,00 people and exporting 85% of its products.

At this point, it’s worth quoting Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH: “If you control your distribution, you control your image”. That conveys the mood of the fashion industry perfectly. Manufacturers and designers want to sell under their own terms and conditions and, to do that, they need cutting-edge, top-quality solutions. What MakoLab has to offer can most certainly support them with their operations in that respect!
