MakoLab closes Q3 with modest growth

MakoLab generated PLN 16 million in sales revenue in Q3 2024, reflecting a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. The company highlighted successful implementations of solutions utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) methods and tools in its quarterly report.

In its Q3 2024 report, MakoLab announced sales of PLN 16.0 million, marking a 1% growth compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Year-to-date sales amounted to PLN 51.6 million, a 5% decline compared to the same period in 2023. Export services accounted for 72% of revenues in Q3 (74% year-to-date). The largest year-over-year sales drop was recorded in the automotive sector.

Profitability indicators - sales profit, EBITDA, and operating profit - were negative in Q3, though the loss was smaller than in the corresponding period in 2023. Year-to-date, the company achieved PLN 1.4 million in operating profit (compared to PLN 2.0 million in 2023), PLN 2.7 million in EBITDA (PLN 3.6 million in 2023), and PLN 1.4 million in net profit (PLN 2.0 million in 2023).

Like in 2023, Q3 was challenging in terms of sales. This is partly due to the holiday season, as it is every year. More significantly, we continue to face a slowdown in the IT services market and economic difficulties in our key automotive sector, leading to budget cuts and clients reducing project scope and numbers. However, the positive news is that we halted the quarterly sales decline, with sales in July-September this year slightly higher than last years. Based on our current results, existing orders, and sales opportunities, we see a risk of lower revenues by the end of the year compared to 2023. We are adjusting costs accordingly to ensure that even if this risk materializes, we can close the year with positive profitability indicators.

The report also highlighted the implementation of AI-based solutions. In addition to a dedicated chatbot that uses large language models (LLM) and provides answers based on client’s internal documents, the company deployed a car damage recognition and spare parts identification system for a global automotive brand’s chain of workshops. This is another step in MakoLab’s ongoing strategy to integrate advanced AI services into its offerings.

We are consistently expanding our service portfolio with AI-powered systems while focusing on delivering business benefits for our clients. In the case of damage detection system, it significantly reduces the time required to identify damages and estimate repair cost. In October, we had a success with our first Mako AI Days, a conference for our clients and partners. During the event, we presented our strategy for utilising AI in our offering and operations.
