An app for efficient event organisation and management
A participant may register at an event with the use of the Expo Scanner in three distinct ways: online, via a touchscreen terminal at the venue and also through interaction with event staff. This allows for users to independently register (via the available terminals and online) as well as being able to register with venue staff should an issue arise. During the identification phase, the system generates a user ID for every attendee that is then subsequently printed out and given to the participant either at the point of service or upon entering the venue. Before entering the venue, user IDs are checked to ensure the verification and tracking of attendance throughout the course of the event. The control of entrances takes place using the mobile app that reads the individual ID codes from printed tickets or from a mobile device.
It is through the use of mobile devices that Expo Scanner truly exhibits its innovative qualities. Utilising the app on mobile devices eliminates the need to purchase specialised scanners for code reading. Implementing this feature, as well as allowing for independent registration, results in reducing the check-in time at events from over two minutes to just seconds- a vital improvement when admitting thousands of visitors.
The app also contains modules for data exchange (e.g. registration lists), event management (including adding or removing events and participants), and for the analysis of crowd traffic both entering and exiting the venue.The Expo Scanner app was successfully implemented to support the organisation of events at Europe’s largest trade fair centre – Ptak S.A. In 2015, more than 100,000 participants were registered via the Makolab-created app for the largest fashion show in Central Europe- Ptak Expo.
