MakoLab and a new take on ‘business sharks’

The world’s oceans are in a state of crisis brought on by overwhelming pollution, climate change and overfishing on a massive scale. As part of our ESG activities, we’ve decided to help Fundacja PANGOLIN (the Pangolin Foundation). The foundation is based at Orientarium ZOO Łódź and our contribution will go towards supporting an endangered species living in the magnificent aquaria there.

Aquatic animal populations are continuously dwindling. At the same time, they’re all vital to our planet’s ecosystems. Some of the denizens of the deep in the Orientarium’s oceanic zone represent species that are at a high risk of vanishing from our seas for ever and it’s one of those we decided to help.

Which one? The majestic sandbar shark... and doesn’t that shine a new light on the phrase ‘business sharks’!

Why are sharks in danger of extinction? In brief:

  • Massive commercial overfishing;
  • Being caught by accident as part of a haul of other species;
  • The transformation of coastal areas.

Hopefully, we’re far from being the only company looking out at the world around us and checking where we can help as part of our CSR activities!
