The EC makes Mirek Sopek a Financial Data Expert
One of the main responsibilities of DG FISMA is instigating and implementing EU policies in the fields of banking and finance, including the Capital Market Union. It is also charged with corporate reporting and audit.
Following the financial crisis which began in 2008, the EU responded with a range of reforms designed to stabilise and strengthen supervision of financial markets. DG FISMA is tasked with ensuring the full implementation of EU laws, monitoring the efficacy of the reforms and responding to any and all further financial threats which might occur.
